Simple instructions and useful answers, so you can get on with your day.
How to use the random name picker
A wheel turns a list of options into one visible choice. Use it to pick a person to go first, choose a dinner idea, settle on a game, or draw the next item from a list. You can edit the entries directly; an account is not required.
- Enter one name or option per line. Blank lines are ignored.
- Check the entry count and remove anything that should not be included.
- Choose whether to remove the winner after a spin.
- Select Spin the wheel. The pointer marks the selected slice, and the result appears below it.
Set up a useful list
Keep each option short enough to recognize at a glance. If two people have the same name, add an initial or another label so you can tell them apart. The wheel accepts up to 500 entries. Very long labels are shortened on the wheel, while the result shows the entered option.
Each entry has the same chance on a spin. Repeating an option gives it additional slices, so a list containing “Pizza” twice and “Tacos” once makes pizza more likely. To give each person or option one chance, include it once.
Pick once, or work through everyone
Leave Remove the winner off when every spin should use the same list. Turn it on for an order of turns, a sequence of activities, or a draw without selecting the same entry again. The winning slice stays visible briefly before the wheel updates. You can undo the most recent removal.
Recent picks help you follow the sequence. Clear that history when starting a new activity. For whole groups, the team generator can distribute your roster in one step.
Save and share your wheel
Your entries are saved in this browser on this device. The save button confirms that local copy. A shared wheel link includes the current entries, so anyone you send it to can open the same list. Use labels you are comfortable sharing, and check the list before copying a link.
Will the wheel work on a phone?
Yes. The controls adapt to smaller screens, and you can tap the spin button. Your phone and computer keep separate local lists unless you open a shared wheel link.
Can I choose a number instead?
Use the 1–10 example for a small visible wheel. For a wider range or several numbers at once, use the random number generator.
